I am taking advantage of XMAS break by cleaning my mess by reading old newspapers which are piling up.

I always enjoy reading the author columns. I think you and your readers will enjoy this article specially if you love books and love clues. Kids will love it also.

Grada ,
Just because one says Merry Xmas or celebrates it should not conflict with your own beliief.

If you are devoted to your own religion whatever that may be then fine. But if , on the contrary you choose to celebrate with all the religions be it Hannukah or Xmas then why not ? I really dont understand the criticism of narrow minded people trying to implement their beliefs on others ........

Greetings, Anglo. Oh, BRrrrrother!

I think it is wonderful that Amir is being brought up to value the notion of respectful difference, not the values of the disenfranchised, closet Talibans. Amir is growing up in a multicultural setting, to be an effective British citizen, not an accidental free loader living on the fringes of society. You cannot demand respect if you don't know what it is, and you can't know it without practicing it.

Amir: Free birds are much bigger than any pigeon box. Soar, little one, soar higher and enrich the London skies with your bright Libyan colors. And repeat after me:

Hi Anglo
I love the fotos, Amir looks so cute and the christmas tree is lovely.
I just dont understand the narrow mindedness of some people be it christian, muslim or any faith. I find Grada's comments offensive. I am a christian and still celebrate Eid AND christmas with my muslim friends.
What i do see in his comments is really how un-islamic his view is. We all worship the same god and since we are all made in his image, why are people like Garda pointing out differences instead of the shared values and similarities that god has given us all. That is RESPECT, PEACE and LOVE for all humanity not just the select few.
If more people raised there children with the same values and respect that you obviously do with your beautiful children then the next generation wouldn't have to suffer the pain of war and poverty as our generation and the generations before us have all done. Life can be difficult enough without people like Grada causing more grief to the rest of us who just want to get on with our lives.
Eid mubarrak, merry christmas and a happy Amir(haha) to you all. I wish you all a peaceful and prosperous new year, may god grant you all your dreams- also grada even though it seems like his wish is for us all to live in ghettos

You are the kind of people I despise the most. You make me sick.

I am very proud that I have Blacks, Asians, Europeans and Arabs in my family, who are Muslims, Christians and buddhists. I am very fortunate to have this kind of diversity in my family and taught me to be tolerant to others.

Religion is a private matter and it is none of your business. My brother has a Christmas tree in his house, am I going to make the same stupid comment to my brother as you did to Anglo Libyan and shake my nephew and tell him "Hey buddy, be proud of your roots".

If you were a civilized person you would not make those comments. Learn to be civil. You have the right to make your own opinion of him but not to be impolite.

Anglo - Libyan blogs his own daily life covering his family life and thoughts of certain topics. He is allowing you to make comments about his daily life and thoughts but please be respectful.

Lol, merry christmas to you too!
i expected a christmas message, but not a tree hehe
mind you here in dubai where i have been for a few days it's mainly muslims that stop to take photos in front of big xmas trees in the scattered oases of malls in the emirate.

btw, i wonder what's ur thoughts about bhutto? i'm really interested to hear it.

Dear Suliman
thanks for the support and that is exactly how I am trying to bring up my kids.
as for your words to Amir, that is so beautiful and I will always keep this for him. your message cheered me up :o)

the Scottish catholic
nice to see you here again :o)
I agree that comment was offensive to all of us. Thank you for your supporting words and best wishes to you too.
For the record: the Scottish catholic is a good friend of mine, last week during Eid, he got both of my kids an Eid card and a gift.
The picture where Amir is standing in front of a christmas tree is in his house where there are gifts for my kids under the tree waiting to be collected on Saturday when I take my children there inshaAllah. So Grada, who is the better person here??

thank you Music Lover, I am glad many of us are not ignorant.

dear Leandra
best wishes to you and many thanks :o)

Buj
I hope you enjoy your stay in Dubai with the family, we all enjoy looking at and being photgraphed with a nice christmas tree.
about Bhutto, well that was shocking news, a horrible way to end a life of someone like her, we all know that she was not the best as she herself was known for being corrupted but who isnt in politics??
I suppose we all knew it was going to happen but still it is so sad that so many people in the muslim world end up in such a horrible and bloody way, may Allah forgive her and bless her soul and all those that got killed.

Salam Anglo-Libyan,
Happy Holidays! :-) Guess that's the 'pc' way to say things these days, eh? Great picture of Amir looking handsome as ever. I know the kids will enjoy Saturday with your friend, and know you and your wife will enjoy watching their faces as they happily open their gifts.

May the New Year bring you and your family wonderful blessings.

FOR MUSLIMS happy eid
FOR CHRISTIAN Happy Holidays OR

Most people do not know anything about Christmas including Christians. Here is an article which I read sometime ago, maybe this will help.

thank you ibeebarbie and same wishes to you and the family.

dear Hibo
my post clearly says
" Wishing everyone that celebrate it, a very Happy and peaceful Christmas"
I have put greetings for our Eid and posted about the Eid party in London, further to that here in London many councils do have some sort of celebrations at Eid time for the Muslim community, even some schools close on Eid day which is good.
every year at chrstmas time I take my kids to a friends house where they enjoy watching the christmas tree and as I said, my friend remembers them at Eid too.
we live in this country and I have always blogged about how my kids go to a Muslim school on Saturdays and learn Arabic and Islamic studies but at the same time I am bringing them up to respect and celebrate with everybody.
of course I appreciate your honesty and your opinion but what I did, I feel is the right thing to do :o)

thanks again music lover for the links.

To grada or should I say Mr. know it all ?????

Whatever one does or believes is of his /her own doing . Whether one finds it offensive or not that's another question. We are all different and nobody's perfect. This is Anglo's blog which got us all together ,diferent races, religions , with a twist of having Libyan blood, and we indeed should respect our host and thank him for sharing his life with us.
Furthermore do try to be more open minded for it will lessen your ignorance and improve your life awareness.

grada
