Messy Wudu!

I have written before about cleanliness or the lack of it in mosques Here, the problem with messy people is that they can come to your home or place of work and make a big mess just for performing Wudu (ablution), it is so annoying to go to the bathroom that you use often to find it so filthy and full of muddy water that you just feel so disgusted that you stop using the bloody bathroom and sometimes this happens when someone you hardly know passes in front of your place of work, decides to come in because it is prayer time and they decide that they have the right to pray and use the bathroom for wudu, make a big mess then leave, with no respect for your place of work or even for yourself, just because I am a Muslim and work with other Muslims does not mean you can come in here and pray, London has as many mosques, find one and please do learn to be clean, it is part of your faith after all.

The news of the passing away of my friend Najib الله يرحمه has upset some of us that knew him for many years but it is God' well, we spent some years together studying and living in Oxford then when the day came that Najib, his wife and children had to return to Libya, a group of us traveled with them to Heathrow airport were we said our goodbyes and wishes to meet some day soon, that was more than 20 years ago, little did we know that it was the last time that we would see Najib again إنا لله و إنا إليه راجعون

After publishing my last post, a Libyan artist living in the UK used the picture I published of Najib and his daughter and cartoonised it as a tribute to Najib which was then put at the condolences pages, while my post was published here, I thought what Al-Sature did was nice, here it is:

It is with great regret that I received the news of the death of a good Friend of mine that I have not seen for many years due to living abroad. My condolences to Yousef Bashir Mejrisi and AbdulSalam Mejrisi for the death of their brother/cousin Najib Bashir Mejrisi and to Mejrisi family in Libya.

The photograph I am posting of Najib is from a collection I have had for many years during our study in Oxford.

May Allah forgive him and have mercy on his soul and give his family and friends patience, Ameen. He was a kind man who loved his family and friends, I will always remember him as the man who never spoke behind any body else's back and that is very rare to find.

Sheep & Dead People

I watched this film from New Zealand last night called Black Sheep, its a low budget comedy horror that I have heard about before and how successful it is, it is a movie about a genetically modified sheep that turn into human flesh eating zombie sheep and if they bite you then you turn into a zombie sheep too! what a lot of nonsense I thought but I watched it until the end and I laughed a lot and liked it a lot, so my verdict is:
Ridiculous film
Very forgettable
Very funny
Gory and bloody
and Very Enjoyable :o)

This is a Libyan man, his name is سعد السليني Saad Al-Silini, he has a weird hobby! especially for a man living in a small village in Libya, he lives in Geminis near Benghazi, an area famous for its Mint, this man's hobby is to collect pictures of dead people, he has about 800 photos of dead people, mainly from his village, which he has been collecting since 1985. Not surprisingly the people of Geminis are very uncomfortable with his hobby and tend to avoid him and think of him as bad omen! Saad said that he rarely leaves his village and if he did then he would return very quickly in case someone dies!! How freaky!

Another Blast From The Past!

Last year I posted about this blast from the past that I found, which of course was Watani Habibi, I am posting the video again, well I found another blast from the past which was basically made about the same time as this one.

Do you remember AlJeel Alsa3ed الجيل الصاعد ? another Arab patriotic claptrap song that was used to brain wash us when we were young into thinking that we are so unbeatable and the best!

Again here you get some of the best Arab female singers, I think it was made in the 50s or 60s, an era of singers that had their own style and personality, long gone now, at the end you get the composer Mohamad Abdulwahab singing or should I say sucking up to Jamal Abdul-Nasser, nice voice though.

What I found funny about this video is how did they manage to put all of these extras كومبارس in such a small place?? were they paid?? and how much??

Well things never change, Egyptian media machine which bombarded us with these must hear, must sing and believe songs, is still doing it now.

This is a new song dedicated to the Sinai Peninsula, full of new singers but being of a certain age, I only recognised the Libyan Hamid El-Sha3ri.

Again, they are using good looking singers,perfectly dressed in crisp clean clothes but what I found really dumb is the use of many children that just look perfect.

I mean in reality do all Egyptian/Arab kids look so white with fair hair? why didn't they just get normal kids, white, brown & black but no, not in this video, everything had to be so clean and white, it could make a good advert for a soap powder, complete c**p

As for the English subtitles accompanying this song, well, what can I say? read it and laugh.

Wishing Muslims all over the world a Happy & Peaceful New Hijri Year

I have found this new website called Yamli which I thought might be useful to some even though I find it a bit funny, it is for typing and searching using this newish Arabic that uses Latin letters, to try it out I typed 3osban (a famous Libyan dish) as you type search results appear in Arabic and to my surprise I got عصبان and if that was not enough, I actually found a page on Wikipedia dedicated to 3osban :o)

The Internet & The Cubs!

It is always weird to get back to normal after the holidays, traffic increases, schools start and back to the same old routine and if that is not enough, the next public holiday is not on for months but that is life.

I got Sky broadband installed few days ago, they sent all the necessary equipment including the free wireless router, I have installed Sky broadband before at a friends house, it is a very simple straight forward procedure, this time I had a bit of a problem and while I got the Internet connection working through a wire, the wireless feature was not working and I could not get it on my laptop, I phoned the help line, after a long wait I got connected to an Eastern European lady, I explained what the problem is, she tried to help me but I spent about half an hour just saying, sorry, pardon?? I just could not understand most of what she was saying, her English was bad, then she kept saying: sir make sure there are no walls or obstructions between the laptop and the wireless router, I kept saying: mam I am standing right in front of it, then she would say it again and really got on my nerves, eventually I said to her. you really don't know what to do, do you? she replied that there was nothing else she can offer, I thanked her and put the phone down, a short time later I phoned them again, this time a man answered, an Eastern European man! again with not so good English, half an hour later, still no wireless Internet, I gave up and didn't contact them for 2 days. yesterday I phoned them determined to get this problem sorted, a man with an English accent answered, thank God for that, within 5 minutes I had wireless Internet working perfectly :o)

A German zoo where apparently 2 polar bear cubs were born recently said they will not interfere if the mother bears rejected their cubs and will let the cubs die as they believe it is wrong to hand rear them, they said they will let nature take its course!!!

I found that very stupid, I mean what is natural about keeping polar bears in a zoo in Germany? perhaps polar bears at this zoo reject their cubs (it happened in the same zoo before) because of the stress and unnatural environment they are being forced to live in! many years ago during a visit to Amsterdam zoo, I saw 2 massive polar bears in a small enclosure, they were pacing up and down the cage and shaking their heads non stop, apparently this is a sign of madness in animals that live in terrible conditions in zoos. London zoo used to have polar bears when I first came here but I am glad they were moved, in fact now in London zoo you will not find big animals such as elephants and hippos because the park is too small to house them.
