Be With Us or Shut Up....

I find it very irresponsible of some people, countries and organisations criticising the coalition war against Gaddafi the mass murderer, the help of the coalition forces towards the people of Libya should be encouraged, its because of them that the citizens of Benghazi were spared from a bloody massacre and hopefully many other cities in Libya will soon be saved too.  All this rubbish being published about Libya being another Iraq and Afghanistan is not helping, Libya is different, the people of Libya wanted peacefully to change the regime who in turn used all their weapons to fight defenceless innocent civilians who had no choice but to take arms and defend themselves, they fought bravely but their arms were nothing compared to what Gaddafi had in mind for them, he murdered and injured thousands, he attacked buildings and mosques, nothing was spared in his filthy war against the people of Libya so for all these people that are criticising the coalition forces, why didn't you put your hard hats on and went to Libya to fight along side the Libyan people? or is it much better for you to sit at home watch the massacres take place and then voice your opinion that the whole thing is about oil! and even if it is about oil, these countries would I'm sure like to have our oil but that would be purely business where they buy the oil and our country and people benefit from it, or would the sceptics rather see Gaddafi selling the oil and keeping the money for himself and his disgusting family as he has been doing for the past 42 years! and what was that all about seeing sombre looking Russians walking to the Libyan embassy with huge flower wreath dedicated to the innocent civilians allegedly killed by the coalition forces in Libya!! why didn't these people show any sympathy for the thousand of Gaddafi's victims in Libya! why don't they support the people or shut up!
What Gaddafi is showing on his TV channels is nothing but propaganda, the alleged injured looked healthy, their eyes were bright, compare that with the hundreds of videos showing the real victims of Gaddafi including children the elderly and women.
Its about time that we gave credit to the West and its people, they value the lives of human beings, they value human rights and as many witnesses from Libya said, their strikes against Gaddafi have been accurate and did not cause any harm to people, I myself spoke to people in Tripoli & Benghazi who are really appreciating what is happening and are 100% with hitting Gaddafi hard.
May his end InshaAllah comes soon and to be honest I used to have this politically correct attitude about things and thought Gaddafi should be caught and put to trial, well I don't have this feeling anymore, after seeing the genocide he, his sons & gangs have committed in Libya, I know wish they all burn in this life before they burn in hell, their filthy bodies are not worthy of being buried in Libyan soil.

For all of you sceptics that pretend to care about Libyan people, look at what Gaddafi is doing, then you will know why we Libyan people are grateful for any help we can get to stop Gaddafi and his gangs

This wasn't done by UK, USA or France, it was done by Gaddafi and his gangs

no we will not shut up
and if one is against this war, that dsnt mean is with al ghaddafi
just we dont understand why we are waking up just now on the rights of the humans there, when we knew since long time how they were being dealt with
and please lets stop saying this war is protecting civilians
when you throw bombs, you kill
thats it
it is to get rid of someone who never bowed low to the west like other arab leaders and it is to get better contracts or it is to regain political consensus at home
And we do not even know who we are supporting, another tribal leader, a nostalgic monarchist or an islaist
sorry but these are the things that need to be said
may Allah have mercy on us all

Balqis, I think you cannot say "we will not shut up" and "let's stop saying..." at the same time!
You may say, "I have my freedom of speech and I intend to express my opinion even if some people find it insensitive." So far so good.
But then, several lines below, you say, "Let's stop saying this war is (about) protecting civilians". Why should you be free to say whatever you like, and other people should stop saying what you don't like?
You seem to like the Q-man for never bowing low to the West - would you also like to live under his rule? Honestly? Should the valian freedom fighters and the innocent babies of Libya die so that some self-hating Westerners have the pleasure of watching a never-bowing anti-Western leader?
The free nations who have sent their sons to Libya care little whom they are supporting. They know they are supporting human beings, that's enough. We all now that there is difference between the values held by most Libyans, on one hand, and most Westerners, on the other. Right now, this seems the most unimportant issue in the world.
Of course you are right that when bombs are thrown, people are killed. Some civilians may already have been killed, and if they have not yet, they will. This is war. Many civilians were killed by the Allies when they fought the Axis in 1939-45. So it was better to leave Hitler alone, wasn't it? God forgive me, but whenever I see a pacifist, I wish to offer him an IQ test!

I am not a pacifist but I am giving a political opinion as I am a westerner and concerned about how events unfolded
And as Muslim I am obviously pained by this war and by how people were oppressed by Ghaddafi
We cant hide that true this war was born from the people, but was fueled by the french and the british much before, in order to get more favourable oil contracts Of course the genaral public is with the civilians, we all are but who are these civilians Who are those oiur armies are supporting _? They are al qaeda, islamists, king idris nostalgics, tribal factions that opposed ghaddafi rule
These are the people who will be in power after the war if won
these same as ghaddafi will not care about educating people and giving them rights They will want to make money
I dont care about peace
I am saying that things could have been done differently also negotiating with ghaddafi still in power because we are not discovering he is not a nun right today
I cant stand the hypocrisy , that of the westerners and that of the libians in exile who through facebook and twitter are spreading misinformation and using those civilians
This is a war for oil and money, and on the ground there are many different types of civilian

The opinion that this war, or any other, is "for oil", just isn't serious. Why? Because those expressing it never allow it to be falsified. If you ask them to tell under what circumstances they would admit that a war is NOT for oil, they will not find anything to say.
Or they will? The comment thread is open.
The presumption that it is bad to be a Monarchist sounds strange to me on a British blog - last time I checked, Great Britain was still a monarchy :-). I guess many a British would be surprised to hear that they are greedy and intolerant and whatever just because they support their Queen.
You cannot negotiate with Qaddafi. He is not only as evil as a human can be, he is lunatic. He will always have the upper hand in negotiations. People have negotiated with him for 4 decades and here is the result, enjoy it.
I wish him gone, the sooner the better. You are right that people who will come after him will be far from perfect. Is it even fair to demand from them to be perfect democrats? It is impossible, in a country suppressed by a lunatic dictator for 4 decades. And even Western politicians are not. Libya deserves a chance, and she should have it.

We are talking about king Idris here cause I saw his flags raised, kinda different than the british monarchy
It is still for the oil
It was possible also under ghaddafi to get it, but way too difficult
Not a secret anymore the reasons why the Lockerbie bomber was set free, or how many participations in key industries Libia has, to allow Italy to be its main commercial partner
bedouins are tough to deal with, but not impossible Ghaddafi might be a lunatic but knows what he wants
we could have forced him to accept human rights organisations decades ago or given sanctions, in the first days of the revolts so that it wouldnt escalate into a civil war
Now is too late and there is no other choice than going to war but am not sure the people of libia will have better options any time soon
And maybe we should explain to baharainis why we are closing one eye on their country and to Yemenis why Americans are on their president side
I didnt see the mass graves and bombings claimed by exiled activists but I saw bullets in the heads of yemenis at the mosque
That was not an act of self defence on the police side, it was deliberate murder

Balqis, reading your comments that you are pretending to make a point, all I can see is the same rubbish that Gaddafi is throwing up at the world, so there is no point here to watse time discussing anything with you.

Maya M,thank you, you have always been reasonable and supportive of the oppressed and I do from the bottom of my heart that the problem of the Bulgarian nurses is solved soon, today in Benghazi's main square the Imam in the Friday cermon mentioned the Aids children and how its one of many crimes that need to be solved, the nurses will I hope clear their names soon

The NATO Forces immediately stop their strike against Libya.

Balqis De Cesare said...

Using your same method I might say you speak like one who is on someone else payroll
But this is not the way to discuss nor to see things in perspective
We are making history here and all facts must be brought on the table

Thank you! I have recently read a touching interview with a mother whose two children were infected with HIV (and so was she, while breastfeeding her son):

It almost made me cry.

What really worries is that the people dropping the bombs don't know their exact strategy. Have anti Gaddafi people been bombed also? It's possible. It happened in Iraq. How long do they intend to stay? Are all the anti Gaddafi forces acting as one? It seems the professional wise persons we saw running Benghazi at the beginning of the uprising have been sidelined and the western powers have chosen their favoured spokesman. Again, that happened in Iraq. How long does it take for the west to capture Gaddafi in a country of less than 3 million persons? Why don't they just do that and stop the chaos?
Why aren't the AU being given a chance to get him out of the country and hand him over to the ICC after a brief spell in Nigeria or Uganda, as happened with Charles Taylor? This would end all the bloodshed.
All decent people want Gaddafi gone but we have to admit there have been so many blunders that have not helped all Libyan people.

Unfortunately, we see that AU has other intentions about Gaddafi: to try a peace plan designed to help him stay in power.
