This is a great article. I love my religion and my country but there are a lot of aspects of my life that a lot of Muslims here don't find "Islamic" enough. (nothing bad but I am independent). I have tried socializing with other Libyans that live here and always feel a deep disapproval from them for the way I lived on my own and took care of my self when I first arrived. I can see them judging me and keeping me at bay as if I had something they could catch. This was always so disappointing to me because I am always so excited to see someone from home. Since I have married it is a little better but I am still not married to a Libyan. Even though my husband is a Muslim that still is not good enough for a lot of people. So I have stayed away and distanced myself from the things I love. This is a shame because not only do they have a lot to offer me in the way of reminding me of home, but I might have a lot to offer them as well. I have no reason to feel that someone would harm me but it is always in the back of my mind. My heart goes out to these young ladies and their families.

i read about the sad news earlier and it really made me sick to my stomach..
How could any human being be so numb ,so senseless ,so soulless that he/she could perform such an act.?? i really dont know..
As for those whoo write such stupid remarks or comments...I had the pleasure of discovering how ignorant and evil people can be..
I read many such comments about different events,and it really reflects how some people become infested with ignorance ,intolerance and even better: pure evil..
May Allah grant mercy for all who needs it..

many thanks to all of your comments, I would like to add that the husband that killed his wife (he was a good friend of mine) before the tragic events he became mentally ill and suffered from Schizophrenia, his wife whom I knew since she was a little girl refused to leave her husband during his illness and remaind a good wife and mother, unfortunately he killed her, a week later in prison after realising what he did, he killed himself.

This is very sad news. Crimes like this really make you wonder what kind of world we are living in. Allah yarhamhum inshallah.

Salma, the libyan girl that was killed by her husband a couple of years ago was a very close friend of mine. She was one of the best people i've ever met and she will always be remembered. Allah yarhamha, I am sure she is in a better place now.

Salaam AL. A Crime is a Crime 'regardless', and may Allah give the parents of the girls patience and acceptance of their fate. However, I always beleived that crimes happen everywhere, and we get to hear about them more in open societies, well, as they are more OPEN.

its sad when u see such a young souls been taken away with out any reasons or cause , specialy in this holy month, the way the been killed it sound so evil. as u said lets allah be the judge of our sins or mistakes, i hope who did it will be cought sooner , and their family will get adjustice , just my heart goes out for them , regarding the libyan family u did mention, if the once u meant the young girl who been killed by her husband, i do know the family very well , she was so educated strict libyan muslim , she did study shareea, and her father and mother is well respect family.her father so polite , he did help me alot, we close family, she was happy go lucky girl, i was so shocket and so horrifying to see her father can not even stand up, when he saw her in the hospital,as u know he was a way when it did happend,thanx for the post,

God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can and Wisdom to know the difference.

Whatever life the girls lived was and should be kept private - not publicised.
We are not here to judge people
...
We are here to make the world a better place for all of us to live in no matter the differences in race religion or cultural backgrounds.
My prayers are with their parents.
May God grant them patience.

I am sorry for the victims, thank you for blogging about them. At least, I can assure you that Arabs have no monopoly over the idiots of the type described by you. Some years ago in my country, a 16-year-old girl was shot dead as she was leaving a pub with her boyfriend (by a policeman who wanted her to become his girlfriend). Then, I personally heard people commenting that she received her due, because if she had been a good girl, she would have been preparing her lessons rather than hanging in a pub with a boyfriend! There is a type of idiots who can't or don't want to feel compassion, so whatever bad happens to someone else, they blame the victim so that needn't sympathize to him. If a person cannot find a job, they say this is due to his laziness, if he becomes sick, he must have had unhealthy lifestyle etc. The only innocent victim in the world is the idiot himself, when a bad thing happens to HIM.

Yeah Allah only is the judge we can't blame the victims, and it's shame to talk about them in a bad way, and we can't even blame their poor family...May God be with them...
